Town of Bradford property tax due dates deferred

Bradford council defers taxes and utility bills by 60 days
PH-Highlights

In last night’s special virtual town council meeting, Mayor Rob Keffer and councillors passed a recommendation to defer due dates of property tax payments by 60 days for each bill in 2020, and to allow a 90 day grace period for late fees and penalties on water/wastewater utility bills.

"I assured members of the public we would be reaching out and helping them with their taxes when they came due and with their waste water bill," said Keffer.

The next installment of property taxes, due on April 28, 2020 is now due on June 26, 2020 and all subsequent property tax bills will be pushed forward.

Pre-authorized payments won't be deducted until 60 days after normal due dates, and manual payments don't need to be paid for an extra 60 days. An additional 30 day grace period on penalties and interest on the interim second instalment is also available for those who need it, until July 27, 2020.

There will also be a 90 day grace period for late fees, penalties and interest charges of the water/wastewater utility bills until July 16, 2020.

No action is required by residents to receive the 60 day deferral of taxes or the 90 day grace period on utilities. Residents who wish to pay their taxes or utility bills on the original due dates can still do so; those with pre-authorized payments or who have submitted pre-dated cheques will need to contact the Finance Dept. to ask that the payment come out at the usual time, by contacting 905-775-5303 ext. 6030, or [email protected]
