Telemedical company KumoCare sees 1000 percent increase in bookings due to COVID-19

KumoCare offers telemedical appointments for those seeking medical attention from the comfort of their own home

Since the COVID-19 pandemic hit, telemedical company KumoCare has seen an increase in demand for its online medical services, prompting them to partner with an additional five doctors to help handle the volume of calls.

In the past two weeks alone, they have had a 1,000 percent increase in bookings.

The North American company now has a total of seven physicians servicing the Province of Ontario, seeing patients over video and audio calls. They are also able to connect patients with personal support workers, nurses, psychotherapists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, chiropractors, speech and language pathologists, social workers, pharmacists, and dieticians. They are able to assess you and prescribe medication online.

All services are covered by OHIP. Ben Fagan, KumoCare’s co-founder and president says the platform focuses on meeting the concerns of Ontario residents as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to put a strain on doctor’s offices and hospitals.

“In these uncertain times we’re here to support those most in need and health-care professionals,” he said. “The province has made great strides in telemedicine offerings and we’re here to do our part in supporting the community as they look to limit exposure to this infectious disease.”

He noted that over the past few weeks he has seen hesitation in people making visits to the doctor’s office.

The company aims to relieve the pressures of our healthcare system, by providing  treatment of acute, episodic illness and injury to patients who cannot leave their homes and need to see a doctor or other health care workers.

Patients can book an appointment by telephone, email or through their app.

For more information, visit their website at www.kumocare.com or call t 905-857-2356 EXT. 1 to schedule a telemedicine visit.
