Ron Orr is running for re-election as town councillor for Ward 4 to continue to serve residents with steady, reliable leadership that focuses on keeping taxes low and investing in the services we need. Ron is a local businessman and community leader.
As your councillor, Ron chaired the heritage committee and served as a member of the arts and culture committee and the seniors’ housing task force. In these roles, he worked to ensure our town preserves its heritage buildings, invests in the quality of life we all deserve and to deliver new seniors’ housing developments to town.
Now retired, Ron enjoyed a successful career in business and entrepreneurship. He served as chair of the board of a major Canadian mutual insurance company, working to steward the financial, management and facilities needs of the company. He continues to sit on the board of directors today.
He and his wife, Christine, also owned and operated a wholesale giftware and decor company across Canada.
Growing up on Line 5, Ron worked on the family’s dairy farm and served as president of the Simcoe County Milk Producers, as president of the Simcoe County Holstein Club and is the co-leader of the Bradford 4-H Dairy Club.
Ron is also a member of Bond Head United Church, serving as a steward and as a member of the cemetery committee.
He has played baseball and hockey in Bradford and Bond Head, both in his youth and in men’s leagues.
An honours graduate of the old Bradford High School, Ron and Christine have two sons and one grandchild.
