I have always lived in Bradford West Gwillimbury and was an honours grad at Bradford District High School and York University.
Over the years, I played on many local and regional sports teams, including Bradford's first All Ontario Fastball Championship team, the Bradford Queen's Hotel.
After graduating from York, I joined TD Bank's IT division.
During a 33-year career, I steadily progressed through various positions to be an associate vice president, managing 180 staff and an annual budget of $30 million. I am currently working part time as an independent IT consultant.
As a councillor, I am always focused on collaboration, integrity, transparency, accountability and ”running it like a business.” I watch the BWG budget very closely and am referred to by the other councillors as The Math Guy.
At the start of the current term of council, two of the main issues/opportunities for Ward 2, and all of BWG, were:
- Reconstruction of the aging infrastructure in the older parts of Bradford
- Addressing the increasing need for more seniors housing in BWG
I am proud to say we have delivered on both!
Fourteen streets in Ward 2 were reconstructed or partially reconstructed between 2014 and 2018: Cambridge Crescent, Nelson Street, Porter Street, Lee Avenue, Mason Avenue, Kneeshaw Place, Walker Avenue, Line 6, Townsend Avenue, Buce Avenue, Morris Road, and sections of Back Street, Scanlon Avenue, and Britannia Avenue.
In addition, to help improve traffic flow, Marshview Boulevard was designed, constructed and opened.
Construction on two new seniors housing buildings is well under way (The Elden will have 152 suites and Holland Gardens will have 138 suites).
This council's seniors housing incentive plan helped ensure this needed construction happened now, not later.
