The voting deadline was extended to Oct. 23 at 8 p.m. in Bradford West Gwillimbury.

Residents in Bradford West Gwillimbury may have to wait a little longer — again — to get the results of this year’s municipal election.

But this time it may only be 30 minutes.

At 8 p.m. Tuesday, the voting deadline, the town’s CAO Geoff McKnight announced at a gathering at the Bradford and District Memorial Community Centre that some people were still in the online voting system completing the process.

“That’s about as last minute as you can get,” he told a crowd of about 25 people. “We expect to have the results posted before 8:30 p.m.”

A gathering to celebrate the end of the election was first held Monday night - original Election Day - at Minho Restaurant in downtown Bradford, but was pushed to Tuesday after Dominion Voting Systems hit a major slow down in about 51 municipalities, including BWG, for which it was hired to run online voting.

The company put the blame for Monday night’s crash on a Toronto-based server hosting service it claims limited voting traffic for 90 minutes, between 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
