The 90-day advanced notification period for the third rotation of Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) cameras is in effect, beginning October 1, 2024. “Coming Soon” signs have been installed at four new ASE locations within Community Safety Zones throughout BWG.

The second rotation of ASE cameras were installed and activated on September 1, 2024. These cameras will be removed, installed at the four new locations, and activated as of January 6, 2025 (following the mandatory 90-day advanced notification period). The third rotation will span from January 6, 2025, until April 30, 2025.

The third rotation of ASE cameras will be installed at the following locations:

  • Holland Street West – at Brian Collier Way
  • Langford Boulevard- between Meadowhawk Trail and Blue Dasher Blvd.
  • Miller Park Avenue - between Milby Crescent and Boyd Lane
  • Colborne Street (Southbound) - between Natale Court and Scanlon Avenue

On September 3rd, 2024, BWG Council were presented with initial findings from the pilot project and opted to continue the Automated Speed Enforcement program beyond the 1-year pilot. More information relating to future locations and other details will be shared when available.

ASE is an automated system that uses a camera and a speed measurement device to detect and capture images of vehicles travelling more than the posted speed limit. The Town has partnered with Global Traffic Group Ltd. for the duration of the pilot project, to provide technology, processing solutions, and ASE expertise to BWG.

Council endorsed the ASE pilot project in October 2023, which includes a total of three rotations. Each rotation begins with a mandatory 90-day notification period via advanced warning signs at each respective ASE location. The notification period is followed by an operational/in-use period of four months during which time the cameras are active, and tickets will be issued to vehicle owners caught speeding in the posted areas.
