Don’t miss FREE ‘Spring Break At Home’ fun with the BWG Library

The week long break is going to look a little different this year, but the BWG Library has you covered!Our Children’s Librarians have been hard at work planning a great ‘Spring Break At Home’ program with exciting activities for children up to 12 years old, including both take-home kits and virtual programs.

Registration begins on Thursday, April 1 at 9:30 a.m. for those programs that require it. Links to programs not requiring registration will be available on the Children’s Programming page of the BWG Library’s website starting Saturday, April 10.

(PLEASE NOTE: Due to restrictions under the Red Zone, craft and activity kits are unfortunately not available to those who do not reside in the Simcoe Muskoka region. You must live in the Simcoe Muskoka region to register for a kit.)

CRAFT KITS:

Spring Break Craft Kit

This special Spring Break Craft Kit contains materials to make 10 simple crafts in the comfort of your own home!This free program is recommended for children ages 2 and up, and registration is required.
Click here to register for your kit beginning Thursday, April 1 at 9:30 a.m., then pick it up between Saturday, April 10 and Saturday, April 17 during the Library’s Curbside Pick-Up hours.

Tween Spring Break Activity Kit

This special Tween Spring Break Activity Kit contains materials to make beautiful canvas name art in the comfort of your own home!This free program is recommended for children ages 8 to 12, and registration is required. Click here to register for your kit beginning Thursday,April 1 at 9:30 a.m., then pick it up between Saturday, April 10 and Saturday, April 17 during the Library’s Curbside Pick-Up hours.

VIRTUAL PROGRAMMING:

Sing With Russ: A Virtual Concert

Join us on Zoom on Monday, April 12 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. for a virtual concert with children’s entertainer Russ Clayton, while you sing and dance along to the music!

This free program is recommended for children ages 1 and up.Click here to register beginning April 1 at 9:30 a.m. Prior to the event, attendees will receive an email with the Zoom link to join the virtual program via computer, smartphone or tablet.

Virtual Escape Room

Created by members of the BWG Library's very own Teen Advisory Group, test your skills by completing the Harry Potter Tri wizard Champions virtual escape room!

This free program is recommended for children ages 8 and older and their families. No registration is required – access the Virtual Escape Room via the link that will be available on the Children’s Programming page of the BWG Library’s website until April 19.

LEGO Challenge

Test your building skills with the BWG LEGO Challenge! Spin the virtual wheel, then complete whichever challenge the spin lands on.You can spin the wheel as many times as you want.

This free program is recommended for anyone who loves building with LEGO! No registration is required – access the LEGO Challenge wheel via the link that will be available on the Children’s Programming page of the BWG Library’s website until April 19.

Virtual Family Trivia

Do you love Disney and Pixar movies? How about the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)? Try our Disney, Pixar and MCU Family Trivia Challenge! All questions are based on Disney, Pixar and Marvel superhero movies(not the comic books).

This free program is most fun when played as a family! No registration is required – access the Family Trivia Challenge via the link that will be available on the Children’s Programming page of the BWG Library’s website until April 19.

You will have only one minute to answer each question, so come prepared to play. Your score is based on whether you answer correctly and you'll earn more points the faster you answer!
