Proclamation: KHALSA DAY - April 14, 2021

WHEREAS:
Khalsa Day marks the Anniversary of the founding of the Sikh Order of the Khalsa by Guru Gobind Singh. The first Khalsa Day was held in India on April 13, 1699; and

WHEREAS:
Bradford West Gwillimbury residents of the Sikh faith have made and continue to make tremendous contributions to the growth and development of the community and the country as a whole; and

WHEREAS:
A fundamental strength of our community lies in our unique racial and ethno-cultural diversity. The value that we place upon respecting all beliefs and religions is a source of strength in our Town, our Province and our Country; and

WHEREAS:
In celebrating this significant holiday, our Sikh community provides our residents with an opportunity to experience and share in the educational, cultural and religious significance of this very important day.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
That His Worship Mayor Rob Keffer and Members of Council proclaim April 14, 2021 as KHALSA DAY in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury.
