BWG Prepared is a series of monthly tips that have been published over the past year to help you and your family prepare for an emergency. Each month, we have shared a few items you may need to create an emergency kit for your family. If you missed some of our tips, visit our website to learn what else you need to ensure you have a fully stocked kit for your home in case an emergency occurs.

December is a time to think about comfort. Keep a complete change of clothes for each member of your family in your kit. You can also keep puzzles, board games, colouring books, toys and other activities in your kit to keep you and your family entertained or distracted in the event of an emergency, when you might need to spend time away from home in a place like an emergency evacuation centre or a friend’s guest room.

Congratulations! If you have been following along all year you have now completed the basics of your emergency kit. You can add specific items needed for your family. Check your kit annually to ensure you are always prepared if an emergency strikes. EXTRA TIP: have a look at the food and medications in your kit, and put a tag on the outside of the kit telling you the first date when the items will start to expire so you know to refresh them.

If you did not see all of our monthly posts, you can find all of them and more information on emergency preparedness on our website: www.townofbwg.com/EmergencyPrep.
