The Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury is pleased to announce that its Fire and Emergency Services team has been awarded a grant totaling $8,230 from the Province of Ontario’s 2024 Fire Protection Grant. The funding, which was officially allocated on December 19, 2024, will be used to enhance the department’s personal protective clothing and purchase essential equipment aimed at improving fire safety on the fireground.

The Fire Protection Grant, which is part of the government’s commitment to cancer prevention and minor infrastructure modernization for fire services, is administered over three years, with $10 million allocated annually. The grant will specifically support cancer prevention initiatives and the acquisition of personal protective equipment (PPE), both of which are critical in safeguarding the health and safety of firefighters.
