An unregistered nurse from Tiny Township is facing 19 charges in relation to identity fraud at healthcare facilities across Simcoe County.

Between September 2020 and April 2024, police say the accused gained employment as a nurse at numerous healthcare facilities, including long-term care homes, despite being unregistered and unqualified to practise nursing.

“To obtain employment, the individual falsified employment applications, certificates, resumés, reference checks and police checks by modifying the name to resemble active nurses with good standings,” Huronia West OPP said in a news release.

The accused “conducted full nursing duties” between 2020 and 2024.

On Oct. 24, the woman turned herself in to police.

Hailey Roberts, 33, has been charged with identity fraud (five counts), using, dealing, acting on a forged document (six counts), obtaining by false pretense — over (four counts), obtaining by false pretense — under, and assault with a weapon (three counts).

She was held for a bail hearing in Barrie.

Police believe there are more healthcare facilities the accused has been involved with and they are asking anyone with information to call OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Information can be provided anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or crimestopperssdm.com.
