South Simcoe police charged three drivers Sunday, one for allegedly assaulting an officer.

At about 2:20 a.m., police responded to a call from security at Friday Harbour in Innisfil about an intoxicated person. Officers found the accused sitting in a car with the ignition on and “noticed clear signs of alcohol impairment,” police said in a news release.

A 61-year-old Aurora woman was charged with impaired operation (alcohol) and impaired operation (over 80).

At about 7:50 a.m., police were patrolling Yonge Street in Bradford when an automatic licence plate reader alerted them to a driver with a suspended licence. During a traffic stop, officers discovered the driver had two licence suspensions.

While attempting an arrest, the driver “was unco-operative and refused to exit the vehicle.”

A 64-year-old from River Drive Park was charged with assaulting a peace officer, resisting arrest, and driving under suspension.

At about 7:30 p.m., police were called to McDonald’s in Bradford for a report of a possible impaired driver. The driver left before police arrived, but officers were given a licence plate number.

They located the vehicle parked in a driveway, with its engine running. The accused exited a residence, and officers detected signs of impairment.

A 36-year-old Bradford man was charged with impaired operation (alcohol) and impaired operation (over 80).
