Sleeping driver found in vehicle stuck in snowbank on front lawn

A 21-year-old man faces charges for impaired driving after a vehicle ended up in a snowbank in the front yard of a Kirby Ave. home in Collingwood. 

Collingwood OPP officers were called to the home on Dec. 22 at 11 p.m. where they discovered the vehicle facing the opposite direction of traffic in a snowbank between the road and sidewalk.

Officers then found a man asleep behind the steering wheel. 

Police arrested the Scarborough man and charged him with: 

  • Refusal to comply with a breath demand contrary to section 320.15(1) of the Criminal Code
  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs (Criminal Code)
  • Unsafe move - lane/shoulder (Highway Traffic)
  • Fail to surrender licence (Highway Traffic)
  • Fail to surrender permit (Highway Traffic)         

The accused is set to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood next month.
