On January 8, 2025, shortly before 6:00 p.m., members of the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), and New Tecumseth Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire in Alliston.
Nottawasaga OPP responded to a report of a two-storey home on fire in the area of Buchanan Drive in the Town of New Tecumseth. Upon arrival, the New Tecumseth Fire Rescue had already made entry into the home to combat the fire. There was a total of 2 people home at the time, and no injuries were reported.
The fire did not spread to the near by residences and was put out shortly after. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and the investigation into the cause is ongoing. It is not considered to be suspicious.
The roadway near the home was temporarily closed until the fire was put out, and re-opened at 08:30 p.m. The family will be staying with friends and family temporarily due to the damage and flooding into the basement.
