Police are investigating the theft of more than $2,300 worth of alcohol from the LCBO in New Tecumseth.
On Jan. 3, police responded to the store at 22 Dunham Dr. Shortly before 8 p.m., a man entered the store through the front doors. After roaming the store for several minutes, he went to the back storage area, picked up several cases of liquor and left through the back door, loading the boxes into a dark-coloured passenger vehicle. He was last seen getting into the passenger side and fleeing the scene.
The suspect is described as Southeast Asian, standing about five-foot-10, weighing 200 pounds, with a heavy build and a full beard. He was wearing a black baseball cap, a black puffer jacket, blue jeans and white sneakers.
The items stolen were one case Hennessy (12 375-millilitre bottles worth $492.70), six 750 ml bottles of Laphroaig ($599.70) and six 750 ml bottles of Glenfiddich ($1,259.70). The total value of the stolen items is $2,351.40.
Shortly after, police were called to the LCBO at 36 Young St. Employees had been made aware of the incident at the other LCBO when the suspect entered the store. He asked an employee for Casamigos tequila and was asked to leave the store. The employee contacted Nottawasaga OPP. The suspect was seen leaving in a black Dodge Charger.
