A man reported missing earlier this week is claiming to have been kidnapped and repeatedly beaten by two people.
South Simcoe police officers attended a home in Bradford on Tuesday, Nov. 14 at about 10:50 a.m., after a 32-year-old man was reported missing. He had failed to return to the residence the night before.
Officers were subsequently contacted by York Regional Police regarding an assault and kidnapping reported by the missing man.
The victim told police he had attended an address in Bradford on Nov. 13 to meet with a friend. Sometime later, two suspects arrived at the address and allegedly began assaulting him inside the home.
The suspects then kidnapped the victim and took him to a residence in King Township, where they apparently held him against his will and continued the assault.
On Tuesday, the victim was able to escape the residence and seek assistance from York police, who attended the scene and arrested two suspects.
The victim was transported to hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
An investigation by South Simcoe police, in collaboration with York Region officers, resulted in the execution of search warrants at residences in Bradford and King.
As a result, Ryan Kempton, 46, of no fixed address, has been charged with forcible confinement, assault with a weapon and robbery with a firearm.
Toronto resident Targe Mooroe, 25, faces multiple charges including kidnapping while using a firearm, forcible confinement, assault with a weapon, robbery with a firearm, uttering threats, two counts of firearm or weapon possession contrary to prohibition order, and five counts of failure to comply with judicial release.
The accused were held for bail hearings.
None of the allegations have been tested in court.
The investigation is ongoing.
