If you’re looking for tips and advice on how to protect your home from theft and fire, an upcoming event in Essa Township may be for you.
The township, in collaboration with the Ontario Provincial Police, will be hosting an information and demonstration session called Safeguard Awareness Community Event at the Angus Recreation Centre today from 6 to 8 p.m.
“The event is designed to help residents and business owners in the community protect their property and businesses from theft and fire by providing practical safety tips, crime and prevention strategies and tools to safeguard what matters most to residents and business owners,” said Michael Mikael, Essa Township’s chief administrative officer.
“It’s free to attend and open to everyone," he added.
According to Mikael, the township’s mayor and council will open the event followed by a formal presentation from the OPP and the Essa fire department.
A question-and-answer session with both organizations will follow the presentations.
Event attendees will have the opportunity to:
- Learn about local theft trends, crime and prevention
- Get practical safety tips to secure property and business
- How to recognize and report suspicious activity
- Access free safety resources and materials
- Engage with OPP crime prevention experts.
