An ATV operator has been charged after he reportedly fled from police following a traffic stop Monday in Adjala-Tosorontio.

Shortly before 1 p.m., an officer on patrol on County Road 50 saw a man known to police as a prohibited driver operating an ATV. The man fled on foot into a residence while the officer was attempting to arrest him, Nottawasaga OPP said in a news release, adding the man eventually came back outside and was not co-operative with officers.

The 42-year-old Palgrave man was charged with operation while prohibited, obstructing a peace officer and failure to comply with a release order other than to attend court. He was held in custody for a bail hearing and was scheduled to appear Tuesday in court in Bradford.
