You're invited to the princess and superhero party

The Town of Newmarket offers an array of family events this season, including a walking tour, princess and superhero party, boo-seum Halloween fun, history of rock with the Glen Marais Band, and an interactive First World War trench exhibit.

As we transition from summer to fall, the Town of Newmarket welcomes you to join us at our various community events planned for this season. Grab a sweater and invite your friends and family to join in on the fun and make memories that will last a lifetime.

Discovery Walking Tours
Oct. 18: Join us as we embark on a light walk and take in the sights throughout historic Newmarket. The walk is one hour in length and the perfect outing for those wishing to pursue their passion for learning about Newmarket, a town well beyond the ordinary. Tours start at Old Town Hall (460 Botsford Street) from 1 to 2 p.m. Admission is free. Sign up here.
  
Princess and Superhero Party
Saturday, Oct. 27: Come dressed as your favourite prince, princess or superhero for the day and join in on the fun at the Magna Centre (800 Mulock Drive) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Enjoy games, crafts, inflatable activities, stage shows and more. The event is $5 per child, parents, guardians and children under one-year-old are free. This event is sponsored by H.J. Pfaff Audi Volkswagen, Toppers Pizza, Glama Gal Kids Spa, Cobs Bread, No Frills and Freedom Mobile. Tickets are available onsite and online at snapd Newmarket.

Boo-seum fun at the Museum
Saturday, Oct. 27: Join us at the Elman W. Campbell Museum (134 Main Street South) at 1:30 p.m. for a howling good time as we turn the museum into a boo-seum! Halloween displays, crafts and try a Halloween hunt! This event is suitable for children aged four to 10. Meet Andrew Hind, author of Canadian Monsters and Mythical Creatures! Andrew will also be autographing copies of his book. Cost is $3 per child. 
 
The Glenn Marais Band and the History of Rock
Saturday, Oct. 27: Join us at the Newmarket Theatre (505 Pickering Crescent) where Glenn Marais and his band will take you on a rollicking time-travel through the greatest moments of Rock and Roll history. From blues great Muddy Waters to rock n’ rollers Chuck Berry and Elvis, Beatlemania, James Brown, Motown, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Queen, Green Day, Michael Jackson and Bruno Mars. This afternoon concert is presented with families in mind and is suitable for all ages. Cost is $12 for adults, $10 for children or $32 for a family pack (for four people). Coming Home: First World War Interactive Trench Exhibit 
Nov. 3 to 15 and 17: Experience a unique look at Newmarket's history during the First World War. The interactive Trench Exhibit is back at the Old Town Hall for its final year in Newmarket. Experience a unique look at Newmarket’s history during the First World War, travel through a replica trench and Vimy Ridge subway tunnel, and walk through a recreated Victory Arch to learn about Newmarket soldier’s experiences after the war.

You can also view First World War artifacts, real footage of Newmarket soldiers heading off to war, and learn about how the town celebrated its soldiers when they returned! At Old Town Hall (460 Botsford Street), Monday to Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Please note this exhibit is closed on Friday, Nov. 16 but will be open again on Saturday, Nov. 17.
 
Santa Claus Parade
Saturday, Nov. 17: Welcome Santa Claus to Newmarket at our annual Santa Claus parade beginning at 11 a.m. Bundle up and bring your family and friends to see the festive holiday floats followed by our special guest - jolly Old St. Nick. The parade will start at the corner of Lorne Avenue and Eagle Street; proceed East on Eagle Street and then North on Main Street, ending at Ontario Street. Don’t forget your letters to Santa, which will be collected along the parade route.

Winter Wonderland
Nov. 30, 2018 to January 2019: Come experience Newmarket’s Winter Wonderland, a beautiful light display throughout our Riverwalk Commons. Guests are invited to enjoy free outdoor skating and/or just relax at the Newmarket Ice Lounge sponsored by Jay Miller Real Estate Team.
 
Free train rides, sponsored by Tim Hortons, are also provided to all guests on Friday and Saturday evenings, weather permitting.
 
Each Friday in December we also host Frozen Fridays from 6 to 9 p.m. where guests can experience free outdoor skating, the Ice Lounge, train rides, a live DJ, a fun “selfie” backdrop and free warm beverages and treats. This year, each Frozen Friday will have its own surprise theme and fun, interactive entertainment both on and off the ice. A great way to celebrate the winter season in Newmarket!
