York Regional Police Male Chorus brings harmony to Bradford

A standing-room-only audience applauded as the YRP Male Chorus filled the historic church with their harmonies

Founded in 1991, the York Regional Police Male Chorus has raised its voice in song – performing everything from gospel music, to Broadway hits, to rock ‘n roll favourites.

The chorus has travelled to Parliament Hill in Ottawa, sang at police memorial services in Toronto, toured in the U.K., brought its music to stages in Quebec and Newfoundland – and, on Sept. 16, visited Bradford West Gwillimbury.

A standing-room-only audience at Trinity Anglican Church applauded as the YRP Male Chorus, with conductor Carla Silver, accompanist Rhonda Venables, and Chorus Supervisor and Emcee, York Regional Police Superintendent (Ret.) Lowell McClenny, filled the historic church with their harmonies.

“Male voices blend so well together and they make harmony. They make a sound people enjoy. It’s just something different," McClenny explained.

It was a rousing afternoon of song and four-part harmony, fundraising for the church, and a social outing on the last weekend of summer.
