The Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury (BWG) is taking proactive steps to help local businesses prepare for potential tariffs that could impact Canadian businesses starting this Saturday.

In response to the looming changes, BWG’s economic development team, led by the mayor and council, is working closely with local, provincial, and federal partners to navigate the potential challenges and advocate for the community.

As part of these efforts, BWG is reaching out to local business owners and managers to gather input on how the tariffs might affect their operations. A confidential survey has been launched to capture the direct and indirect impacts on the business community, which will help tailor future advocacy efforts and support sessions.

“We understand the uncertainty that tariffs bring to businesses in Bradford West Gwillimbury,” said Mayor James Leduc. “Our team is committed to ensuring that our businesses remain resilient and competitive. By gathering feedback directly from our local businesses and collaborating with all levels of government, we can advocate effectively and explore every opportunity to mitigate any negative impacts. Together, we will face these challenges head-on and emerge even stronger.”

To further assist local businesses, BWG has also launched a dedicated web page offering information about the potential tariffs, available resources, and updates. Business owners are encouraged to visit gotobwg.ca/tariffs for the latest information and to provide any additional resources that may be beneficial.

Leduc added, “Our goal is to keep businesses informed and supported as we navigate these changes. We’re here to help, and we’ll continue to monitor the situation closely to ensure our community remains strong in the face of these challenges.”

Local business owners are encouraged to participate in the survey at forms.office.com/r/FnQL8Ra5Xn to share their feedback and help shape BWG’s response.
