Tahini’s celebrated its grand opening this past weekend with York-Simcoe MP Scot Davidson, Bradford West Gwillimbury Mayor Rob Keffer, and members of council.
“On behalf of town council and the whole community congrats on opening,” said Keffer. “As mayor of Bradford West Gwillimbury and on behalf of our council, it gives us great pleasure to welcome Tahini’s into our vibrant business community. Our municipality has experienced tremendous growth and with it, we’ve seen new and unique culinary experiences fuelling business expansion. As your brand becomes established in BWG, I hope your new business has a long list of satisfied customers and robust sales.”
The Mediterranean restaurant offers authentic Middle Eastern food and is located at 547 Holland St. Its social media presence on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook has already helped excite the community with all they offer.
“It’s already caused a lot of social media buzz,” said Keffer. “It’s great people already know about you, and this will help the word spread faster.”
Davidson thanked the owners and staff for coming to Bradford to fill a need by providing a cuisine option that the community lacked.
“Now I can get shawarma in York-Simcoe,” said Davidson. “I used to always have to wait until I was in Toronto or Ottawa, so this is awesome. I know what it takes to open a restaurant, I had one for 10 years, and I know the dedication it takes. I know with food costs it’s difficult, so council is always here to support you and my door is always open for you.”
Jennifer Harrison, President of the Bradford Board of Trade (BBT), explained the partnership that the BBT and town have to help new businesses get off their feet and thrive.
“We’re business owners ourselves and understand the challenges and we love the successes,” she said. “You guys already have a reputation; I’m seeing it all over social media. We’ve always said, we’re your resources in town if you need help, so please reach out.”
The staff at Tahini’s was enthusiastic about bringing new flavours to Bradford and can’t wait to get to know the community better.
“I’m very excited,” said owner Sohil Patel. “It’s a Mediterranean restaurant with a fusion and we have a lot of things to offer. We’ve got the most delicious chicken; customers are excited and we’re just so excited. This is a place where we bring a lot of things together, it’s awesome.”
