Yellow Brick House annual gala is virtual this year on Friday, May 6, 2022 and we are counting on your support. Registration is free. VIP Bags are available for purchase, and you can take part in the silent auction.

Yellow Brick House is proud to announce that the title sponsor for this year’s virtual gala is The Talent Company. A leader in HR, The Talent Company offers solutions across the total talent lifecycle, including recruitment, coaching, leadership development, compensation consulting, HR on-demand, career transition and outplacement services.

Violence against women has increased by 30 per cent during the COVID-19 pandemic. Community support to operate our two shelters in York Region, the 24/7 crisis support line and community counselling and supportive services to help women and children survive domestic abuse is needed now more than ever.

“The statistics are alarming. But behind the statistics are real stories of women and children escaping domestic violence and who rely on Yellow Brick House services like shelter, legal court support, counselling and crisis intervention.” said Lorris Herenda, executive director, Yellow Brick House. “Our virtual gala is an opportunity for everyone to participate free of charge and for those who are able to donate, we are counting on your generosity to help us meet our goal so that we can support every woman and child that reaches out to us.”

The need for safe housing is one of the most vital and immediate concerns for survivors of domestic violence. Without support, many survivors are forced to return to a dangerous home. Our Fund a Need is focused on securing funding for beds for women and children in our emergency shelters. Your support can help empower survivors like Anita and her children to rebuild their lives.

"My young children aren’t restless at night anymore, they don’t fear bedtime here. They know they are safe, that they won’t be awakened to angry voices yelling and screaming. The monster in their old house can’t find them here, can’t hurt them here."

- Anita

The hour-long event will be filled with stories of survival, entertainment by Award-winning Canadian singer-songwriter, Jully Black, dubbed ‘Canada’s Queen of R&B Soul’, and Layne The Auctionista will entertain and engage you while you bid on auction items from the comfort of your own home.
