The Brass and Rafeek Family & Country Meat Cuts presented a generous $10,000 contribution to the Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation (SMHF) in support of the 'Because of you, we can' Capital Campaign.

Jim and Michaelle Brass, local business owners of Country Meat Cuts, along with their family wanted to make a meaningful gift that would benefit the community they have been serving for over 45 years.

“When Jim and I were first discussing who we wanted to support, we decided to meet as a family and the resounding consensus was to commit our gift to the Hospital,” commented Michaelle Brass. “We all knew right away that supporting local health care was our family’s passion, and we could do something that would make a real difference for the lives of our family, friends, and customers who live in our community.”

Country Meat Cuts is a family owned and operated local business that has been providing high quality Canada Grade A meat to customers for over 45 years. Visit their website to see all products and pricing at countrymeatcuts.com.

In addition, to making the generous gift of $10,000 to Stevenson, Country Meat Cuts has previously donated Live Auction packages to the Hospital Gala, and two Grill Meat Packages for the Revving Up for Revitalization Raffle – tickets on sale NOW at transformingstevenson.ca (or call the Foundation office to purchase tickets at 705-435-6281 ext. 2350).

“The support that the Brass and Rafeek families have provided to the SMHF is outstanding,” says Margaret Barber, Chair, SMHF Board of Directors. “I thank them for their generous contributions to the SMHF, our Hospital and our community,” she adds.

In October 2019, the SMH Foundation launched a $43 million Capital Campaign Because of you, we can in support of the Hospital’s redevelopment project, as well as critical equipment and technology upgrades. Of their goal, $30 million represents the community share of the funds required to be raised for the $167 million project.

The Hospital relies on the support of the community for enhancements to infrastructure, equipment and technology, as the government does not provide annual funding for these critical needs.

SMH’s redevelopment project includes a revitalized Emergency Department, doubling the square footage of the Hospital and tripling the amount of parking space. Refreshed outpatient rooms, birthing suites and laboratory space are also included in the plans.
