Last week, St. Jean de Brébeuf Catholic School in Bradford hosted a walk for social justice.
This year’s Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board (SMCDSB) theme was “Walk for Peace with our Lady Queen of Peace.”
“The walk for social justice is an annual SMCDSB initiative, making connections between our faith and the needs of our local and global communities,” said Principal Jennifer Jeffries. “St. Jean de Brebeuf Catholic School decided to support the Society of St. Vincent de Paul - Holy Martyrs of Japan Catholic Church, a local charity.”
Students walked west on Miller Park Avenue and looped up Melbourne Drive back to the school through Regency Court.
“Parents were encouraged to pledge their child and together we raised $533. Students made posters and displayed them as they walked. The grade 7 and 8 students on the Social Justice Committee ran the event. We were pleased to have Mr. and Mrs. Bissonette, join us from the Society of St. Paul.”
