With schools in Ontario out until at least May 4, kids are starting to miss their friends, teachers and everyday routines.
But teachers are also missing their students.
That's why on Wednesday afternoon, 19 teachers from St. Charles Elementary School in Bradford took part in a car parade, driving throughout town, waving and smiling at their students and their families.
The teachers had their cars decorated with banners and signs, letting the students how much they were missed. Students stood from afar on their porches and front lawns with signs and waved as the cars drove by.
"It was aweome," said mother, Jennifer Feeney, whose kids sat outside in fold up chairs with signs waiting for the cars to pass by.
"Thank you St.Charles teachers for making a special day for our children!" wrote one mother Dominika Stopel in a post on Facebook.
"It was honestly the best thing, especially because they miss their friends and teachers it was great to see everyone come out in the midst of this weird time we’re in," said another mother, Angela Rego.
The school has been trying to stay connected with their students as much as possible. Last week, the school participated in a virtual spirit week, where teachers were able to connect with the students and their families on Twitter.
Earlier this week, Premier Doug Ford announced that schools will be closed to students until at least May 4, but could be extended if necessary.
