Sport Clips cutting hair for a good cause this week

$2 from each haircut at Sport Clips this week will go to 'A Bradford Christmas' in support of Bradford charity, 'Hockey for Grace'

From now until Dec. 3, $2 from every haircut at Sport Clips barbershop in Bradford will be donated to 'A Bradford Christmas'.

'A Bradford Christmas' hosts regular community fundraisers for local charities and is run by Bradford sisters Sarah and Emily Dahlgren. This holiday season, the girls have thrown their support behind Bradford charity, 'Hockey for Grace', and have been partnering with local businesses to help raise money for the cause.

Chris and Amy Manning started 'Hockey for Grace' in memory of their daughter Grace, who passed away in 2016 at just eight days old while at the Toronto children's hospice, Emily's House. After Grace's passing, Chris started the Hockey for Grace annual memorial game, allowing them to raise money for Emily's House.

Due to the pandemic, their annual game has been on a two-year hiatus, which has put a damper on fundraising, which is what prompted Sarah and Emily to step in and offer their help.

When Sport Clips Bradford owner Anil Bissa heard about the initiative, he wanted to get involved. Not only will $2 from each haircut this week be donated to 'A Bradford Christmas', but Bissa has agreed to match the amount raised.

"We are always wanting to be part of the community and we always want to be part of excellent charities like this one," he said.

Bissa said the cause hits home for him and his wife whose children were both born premature and had to stay in the hospital for extended periods of time.

"We went through that and we know parents struggle especially when there is so much uncertainty...so this was a no-brainer for us," he said.

Bissa took over the Bradford Sport Clips location seven months ago, and also runs the Orillia franchise.

"We have a great community, and this is a phenomenal town," said Bissa.

This is the last week for the girl's silent auction, which has multiple gift cards and prizes up for grabs from various businesses.

They are also raffling off tickets for a box suite Toronto Maple Leafs game, and have toonie jars at businesses across town, all going towards the cause.

Sport Clips Bradford is located at 494 Holland St. West inside the Holland Square Plaza.
