Bradford’s not-for-profit South Simcoe Basketball Club (SSBC) is once again opening its doors for Recreational League basketball this winter, helping Bradford’s young players work up a sweat and build character in a healthy environment.

Following up on a successful and popular Fall season, the local-to-Bradford club is charging $250 for registration (players of all genders welcome), with collected funds going towards gym rentals, licenses, payments for referees and scorekeepers, individual and team award medals, uniforms and other game essentials, along with scholarships for players who need a little Christmas spirit in their lives.

Founded in 2013, SSBC’s Winter Rec season features three age-specific leagues–for players born in 2011-2012, 2013-2014 and 2015-2016 respectively–starting the week of Jan 6. Leagues run for twelve weeks, including skills evaluation, nine regular season games and two rounds of playoff basketball.

SSBC’s mission is to empower young individuals through the sport of basketball, fostering an environment of growth, teamwork, and resilience. The organization aims to contribute to the healthy growth of the Bradford community, partnering with parents to teach youths about teamwork, respect and sportsmanship through league play. SSBC contributes to local causes, is volunteer-run and offers Rec and Rep team play, along with skills training.

Any interested players or parents can register for the upcoming season at www.ssbasketball.ca. SSBC is also taking applications for volunteers, with teens looking to fulfill high school volunteer hours urged to apply! Those applications, along with any questions about Rec league registration or play, can be submitted to [email protected].
