Schwarzenegger seen filming Netflix series in this Ontario locale

Hollywood star, former California governor spotted filming a scene for the show FUBAR

Arnold Schwarzenegger has done a lot in his 76 years, including being a bodybuilder, action movie star, businessman and governor. Now he can add 'visited Elora' to the list as he was spotted filming a Netflix series outside town hall in downtown Elora Tuesday morning.

A gray and rainy day morning didn’t stop film crews who were working on Netflix show FUBAR at 1 MacDonald Sq. which had been transformed into an American  location with American flags, US Postal Service signs and Centre Wellington town hall turned into the “Heritage Museum & Cultural Center.”

Last week, the township provided notice there would be limited parking and access to town hall beginning on April 26 and lasting until Thursday.

Crews setting up on Friday did not reveal what was being filmed but said it was the second season of a Netflix show.

Signs around Elora on Tuesday directed people to the set of “Oink” but this would be a code name as Schwarzenegger is the star of Netflix series FUBAR which is currently filming its second season.

There was excitement in town as people learned the Hollywood superstar was in town.

“I only found out this morning that’s who was in town but I mean anything that brings excitement and extra people to town I think is a great thing,” said Rachel Bingham, owner of Wreckless Eric burrito and coffee shop.

Crew members had stopped by the coffee shop earlier in the morning so Bingham said it’s possible Schwarzenegger had a coffee from them and half hoped he might show up in person.

“It would be really cool if he did, I realize that’s a long shot but it would be pretty neat,” Bingham said.

Laura Demers, owner of multiple stores in the downtown, said she doesn’t expect this to translate into much business for her but would be a boon for the local hospitality industry.

“A lot of my family are in the film industry, they work 16 hour days, when they’re done they’re going to bed,” Demers said at her store Epiphany Apparel on West Mill Street.

Hope Pentom, who does social media for Demers, said locals have become used to semi-regular filming in town.

“Adam Sandler was here last year, there’s an IT movie filmed here as well,” Penton said. “Not that we don’t care but it’s like you hear about it so much. It’s exciting and it’s cool.”
