Run for Bradford raises $25K for Southlake Hospital

More than 300 people and 106 runners took part in the 13th annual charity event

A local charity is marking another success for 13 years running.

More than 300 people and 106 runners managed to raise $25,000 for South Lake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket through the 13th annual Run for Bradford hosted by Mercy4Mankind at the Bradford and District Memorial Community Centre on Sept. 22.

Organized by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association, the event featured a one-kilometre walk, plus two-, four- and even 10-km runs, plus booths, food, vendors, and games.

In addition to raising funds for the hospital, the event was also intended to contribute to a “sense of unity” with runners of all ages “coming together” in support of a good cause, according Salman Ahmad chairman of the event.

Special guests included Mayor James Leduc and members of council as well as Jennifer Ritter, president and CEO of Southlake.

Mercy4Mankind is part of Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association of Canada, which is an auxiliary organization of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Canada, a non-profit charity organization.
