The Simcoe County District School Board held a track-and-field meet at Bradford District High School last week.
Hundreds of students in Grades 5 through 8 attended the Area 4 Track and Field Day.
Kids from W.H. Day Elementary School, Fieldcrest Elementary School, and Fred C. Cook, Chris Hadfield, Honourable Earl Rowe and Sir William Osler public schools were joined by students from Tecumseth-Beeton and Tecumseth South for a day of racing and jumping.
Based on points, the team from W.H. Day Elementary School won the track and field banner, and the relay banner, winning three of four relay races and placing 2nd in the fourth.
In second place was Fred C. Cook, and third went to Fieldcrest.
The meets are a sign the school year is drawing to a close.
Play Days and assemblies compete with concerts and final exams at this time of year, as schools across the region prepare for the end of the 2017-2018 school year, and the start of the summer break — recognizing both athletic and academic achievement.
