As Halloween gets closer, more people will inevitably be looking for that perfect costume.
A witch? That’s been done.
A devil? How predictable.
We have come up with a handful of costume ideas specific to Bradford West Gwillimbury for people who want to stand out at their Halloween parties with a dose of local pride.
Gwilly
Is there any more obvious costume that represents Bradford West Gwillimbury than Gwilly the carrot, the mascot of Carrot Fest?
Want something spookier than a plain old carrot? Consider going as one of those ‘imperfect’ carrots in a weird shape with two points, like a two-headed carrot.
Captain Carrot
Why be a carrot for Halloween when you can be the rabbit that eats the carrot?
Captain Carrot is Carrot Fest’s other mascot, and he is a real DC Comics super hero.
He may not fly, but he could still rescue any Halloween party from disaster.
Broken server
With Halloween coming shortly after the online voting crash in this year’s BWG municipal election, how perfectly topical is a costume depicting a broken server?
Too soon?
We suggest wearing a decorated cardboard box as a computer, with a screen that is constantly loading.
Or maybe just wrap a keyboard and some cords around yourself to show the pieces left after voters took out their frustration on technology.
Bruno From Bradford
Bruno is the adorable stuffed animal husky who has been popping up around town for the last 1 ½ years — being posed by people at local events, even with the mayor — as the town’s unofficial mascot.
He is cute and cuddly, and he only requires a dog costume to come alive for Halloween.

Field of onions
Show off that Holland Marsh pride by dressing all in brown and stick on images of onions in straight rows down your body. This costume works with any vegetable.
Bonus points if you can make yourself smell like an onion field, too, but your party hosts may not enjoy that so much.
Traffic light always stuck on red
With tongue firmly planted in cheek, we submit a costume idea about traffic congestion in BWG.
You could be the driver, holding a wheel and traffic signal, both made from cardboard, glue and some coloured paper.
Or you could be the evil traffic signal always stuck on red. Maybe add a pair of devil horns to match.
