One man’s trash is another man’s treasure at Bradford United Church

All items at treasure sale are sold for a donation

Once a month, Bradford United Church hosts a Treasure Sale, when treasures culled from members’ closets, cupboards, garages and basements are sold at an indoor garage sale, raising money to meet the bills at the historic church.

Everything is available for a donation to the church, no holds barred — although organizers hope that buyers will be generous when picking up the household items, books, games, accessories, artwork and other items up for grabs.

Not everything sells, but nothing goes to landfill. Unsold bedding, towels, mugs and suitcases end up at Blue Door Shelter, small vases are given to local florists, and other items are dropped off at Value Village.

Donations of housewares and small items for the monthly sales are welcomed.

It is not only an opportunity to downsize or declutter, it is an opportunity to support Bradford United Church and its charities, and make sure unwanted items are re-used.

The next Treasure Sale will take place at the church, 66 Barrie St. in Bradford, on July 28, from 8-11 a.m.

Is your organization planning a fundraising yard or garage sale? Are you raising money for a cause? Please contact [email protected] with the details to add it to BradfordToday’s weekend events listing.
