Stevenson Memorial Hospital (SMH) is excited to announce the opening of a new pediatric clinic, set to launch on Feb. 25, 2025.
This clinic will provide dedicated pediatric care, led by Dr. Jessica Gillam, an experienced pediatrician from Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH), and is designed to help meet the growing healthcare needs of children in the community. The pediatric clinic will operate one day a month and will be located in the hospital’s outpatient department on the second floor.
Key details:
- Referral required: The clinic operates by referral only and is not a walk-in service. Families and individuals interested in utilizing the clinic must contact their family physician/primary care provider to obtain a referral.
- Frequency: The clinic will be offered once per month, with the possibility of expanding based on demand and physician availability.
- Patient care criteria: The clinic will focus on general pediatric care and will not address acute illness, emergency care, behavioural or mental health needs. General pediatric care includes patients with chronic illness, pain management, asthma, medical follow-up and abnormal blood testing.
“This is an important service for our hospital and community, and I thank Dr. Gillam and the RVH team for helping to bring this service to Stevenson,” says Dr. Ihab Khalil, chief of pediatrics, SMH.
The new pediatric clinic is part of SMH’s ongoing commitment to improving healthcare access for the community. The clinic is expected to provide a welcoming, professional, and supportive environment for both children and their families.
