My Seniors Hub will host its first seniors dance for anyone 55 and older Friday at the Innisfil Lions Hall at 982 Innisfil Beach Rd.
The dance will run from 8 to 11 p.m.
My Seniors Hub is owned by Karen Macintosh, who, eight months ago, founded the company that organizes events and offers services to seniors and members of the community who have disabilities.
My Seniors Hub has existed as an online-only business for the past couple of months, serving customers in Barrie, Innisfil and Orillia. It recently expanded to offer services in Midland and Wasaga Beach.
“I am happy to call Innisfil my second business home. I have done events in Innisfil — hosted and attended. We just hosted a high tea event for our Innisfil and Sandy Cove (Acres) clients at Innisfil Lions Club. We raised $240 and gave it to the Innisfil Food Bank,” Macintosh said.
“I have no borders on my business or the people that need my help. Seniors need help from all directions, and that’s what my company focuses on. We will go where we can to help in any way that we are needed. I have to say, though, I love spending time in Innisfil. I will continue to host events (and) have fundraisers to help the clients I have in Innisfil to make their life better ...”
In addition to hosting events and workshops designed for seniors and ‘pre-seniors’ — as Macintosh describes 55-year-olds — My Seniors Hub offers services such as lawn care and gardening, transportation, cleaning services, and cooked meals.
“I started my company by providing meal plans for seniors. We do monthly and weekly meal plan options. They receive the meals delivered right to their door, fresh, with free delivery every week," said Macintosh.
Meals are delivered fresh, not frozen.
"It’s a very affordable option for so many seniors living on a budget. Plus, because we bulk shop and bulk cook with participating restaurants and caterers, we can provide better, more wholesome meals to them (than) what they would be able to do if they were shopping all the ingredients themselves. Just to cooking for one or two people this can be very tricky and expensive. The bonus also is that it is cooked for them. They just heat and serve,” Macintosh explained.
Friday’s seniors dance costs $15 per person, which includes entry, snacks, a live DJ, and prizes, including those for best dressed. There will also be a cash bar.
“It is a ’70s, ’80s, ’90s theme dance, so we are encouraging people to take part in the theme,” Macintosh said.
People are invited to purchase tickets in advance by contacting Macintosh at [email protected] or via the website.
