Musical Winter interlude at W.H. Day Elementary School

Wishing the school community a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa and more

Wild and wintry weather disrupted schedules for the final week of school, before the winter break.

Bus cancellations and school closures led to cancellations and delays in a number of planned elementary school events and concerts.

W.H. Day Elementary School cancelled the concerts it had planned for Wednesday, rescheduling them for Thursday. It was still blustery and snowy, but students and the school community turned out in full force for the performances by every class, from Kindergarten to Grade 8.

The gymnasium at the Bradford school was packed, as parents and family members listened to the students, singing songs in both French and English. There was even a stirring rendition of ‘We Wish You a Merry Christmas’ in American Sign Language.

There were Christmas songs, Hanukkah songs, songs about winter fun – all celebrating the season, and the start of the Winter Break.

Friday was the final day of school before the break; the kids return to class on Jan. 6, 2020.
