THE TOWN OF BRADFORD WEST GWILLIMBURY

After more than 30 years in municipal fire service, Chief Kevin Gallant of Bradford West Gwillimbury Fire and Emergency Services has announced that he will retire at the end of May.
“We are grateful to have benefitted from Chief Gallant’s leadership for the past 10 years, and we wish him all the best in his retirement,” said Geoff McKnight, CAO of the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury.
“Our fire service has grown tremendously in the past decade, increasing from nine to 20 full-time firefighters, and making significant advancements in methods, equipment and fleet,” McKnight added. “Although we have not yet broken ground on the new fire headquarters, it too will bear the stamp of his vision and direction.”
Prior to joining BWGFES as Deputy Fire Chief in September of 2009, Chief Gallant’s career included work with the City of Mississauga and the Town of Erin.
“Chief Gallant has been a vital part of our Emergency Response activities for many years, and I am particularly glad to have had his support during the last several weeks,” said Mayor Rob Keffer. “Kevin advised us of his intent to retire prior to the beginning of the pandemic, so I appreciate that he is able to stay through the end of next month to help guide the Town and his team through this challenging time.”
