In the spirit of Halloween, Bradford resident Jeremy Staniewski has been cruising the streets of town on his bike while wearing a 'Michael Myers' mask.
Michael Myers is the fictional main character in the cult-classic horror film series Halloween, who escapes the asylum and terrorizes his hometown.
But Staniewski isn't biking around to terrorize anyone he says, he just wants to provide some entertainment for the people of Bradford.
"I just like the Halloween movies," he said. "They're the best."
Staniewski was hoping to do his rides in his costume last Halloween, but the mask was not able to ship in time. This year, he had it ordered in time for the spooky season.
Staniewski mainly rides his bike the in the Grand Central subdivision, where he lives, along with his wife Linda Dang, their dog Tito and six-month-old son Theo.
Tito accompanies Staniewski on his rides, running alongside the bike, which is lit up at night by colourful flashing lights. For added dramatic effect, Staniewski blares the Halloween movie theme song from his speaker which sits in the front basket of the bike. This way, people can hear when he's coming down the street.
Residents have been spotting Staniewski around town, posting video footage and photos of him on local Facebook groups. Staniewski says some people have even stopped to take selfies with him.
"I think it's the best, I just wish they could see my smile through the mask," he said of the experience.
Last week, Village Media posted a story about an Angus man who has been doing something similar in his neighbourhood, prowling the streets in a full Michael Myers costume. The man has even started his own social media accounts, under the handle 'Michael Myers Lives In Angus'.
But Staniewski says he won't be making any special Michael Myers of Bradford social media accounts anytime soon.
"It was hard enough for me to get on Facebook again," he said with a laugh.
Staniewski grew up in Queensville and moved to Bradford with Dang in 2016. They enjoy the town's family-friendly community and look forward to raising their son here.
Coincidentally, the latest installment of the Halloween series, Halloween Ends was just released last week and is now playing in theatres. Staniewski says he can't wait to go see the film and plans to watch it while wearing his Michael Myers costume.
