Every ticket for a recent members only luncheon at the Danube Seniors Leisure Centre was snapped up – and no wonder.
Thanks to a generous donation of $500 from Holland Gardens retirement residence, the lunch of roast pork loin with applesauce, mashed potatoes, vegetables and dessert cost members only $5.
The seniors enjoyed the meal and the socializing that followed – and they were reminded of two events coming up at the end of this month.
On Saturday, Sept. 29, the centre hosts Memories with the Legends, a musical interlude that brings back the music of yesteryear, performed by Neil Diamond, Ricky Nelson and Elvis Presley tribute artists.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m., the concert begins at 7 p.m., and refreshments and treats will be served at intermission. Tickets are $20 and are available at the Danube Seniors Leisure Centre, 715 Simcoe Rd.
Monday, Oct. 1 is National Seniors Day, and the Danube Seniors Leisure Centre is partnering with Community and Home Assistance to Seniors (CHATS) to present a Pancake Breakfast at the centre, from 11 a.m. to noon.
Volunteer servers will include local firefighters. The third annual breakfast is a thank you to seniors that is free to attend.
