Look which Bradford resident turned 90!

Santino Vincenzo Guglietti emigrated to Canada in 1952 and moved to Bradford West Gwillimbury in 1974

Santino Vincenzo Guglietti thought the family was getting together for a trip to Casino Rama on Friday, followed by dinner out, to celebrate his 90th birthday.

The big surprise, he thought, was the visit of granddaughter Liana Perruzza, who flew in from Vancouver to be part of the celebration.

But there was one more surprise guest who came out.

Before Guglietti, wife Gina, daughters Rose and Elena and the grandchildren could leave for Rama, Bradford West Gwillimbury Mayor Rob Keffer arrived to present him with a certificate of congratulations from the Town of BWG.

Keffer said he wanted to “join your family in wishing you a happy birthday,” and thanked the Gugliettis for being long-time residents of the community.

Vincenzo and Gina Guglietti emigrated from Italy to Canada in 1952, initially living in Toronto. The couple and their children moved to the 9th Line of Bradford West Gwillimbury in 1974.

Now the couple, who will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary on Sept. 6, live in Bradford. They shared their story with the mayor before heading out for a day of celebration at Rama.
