Families had themselves a Merry Little Christmas at Trinity Anglican Church in Bradford West Gwillimbury recently, with caroling in the sanctuary and crafts in the church hall.
Elizabeth Annand led the craft session, showing kids and adults how to make a nativity scene from tiny flowerpots, cloth, straw, and paint.
Participants were told to paint one pot brown, to represent Joseph, and one pot blue, for Mary – adding wooden balls for the heads, and painted dots for eyes. An unpainted pot served as the manger for Baby Jesus.
After all the slightly messy crafting, families were rewarded with refreshments and treats.
Rev. Dana Dickson said she was delighted with the turnout. “We didn’t know how many would come out,” she said.
The church, located at 62 Church St. in Bradford, will be holding its Lessons and Carols service on Dec. 23 at 10 a.m., as well as a family service Dec. 24 at 7 p.m. and traditional mass at 11 p.m.
