Local residents get taste of Italy with sold-out event

Right down to the antipasto, fundraiser for Lefroy-Belle Ewart legion an authentic affair

Once a year, the Lefroy-Belle Ewart legion Branch 547 is transformed into a little corner of Italy.

Red-and-white checked tablecloths, gleaming cutlery, and a real Italian dinner, catered by the folks at Pasta Plus Ristorante in Alcona – it’s no wonder the Italian Night event is always sold out.

The dinner is a fundraiser for the legion, which hopes to be able to expand and renovate its hall, located on Robinson Street in Belle Ewart.

Legion members and members of the local community came out recently to be served a dinner of antipasto, lasagne and garlic bread, a glass of red or white wine, and dessert.

The next event at the Lefroy-Belle Ewart legion will be the Oktoberfest Party on Oct. 20 at 6 p.m. Cost is $25 per person for a German-themed evening of dinner, music and ein prosit! For tickets, call 705-431-8519.
