It's been a long year with COVID-19, and many are experiencing the 'pandemic fatigue', frustrated with the restrictions put on families especially during holidays.
With some hot-spot areas of the province being advised not to go trick-or-treating this Saturday, people are coming up with creative ways to still celebrate Halloween at home. While Bradford and Simcoe County are not in one of the hot-spot areas, local mom Jessica Harcourt wanted to make a fun, safe, activity that could be enjoyed by all this Halloween, whether they plan to trick-or-treat or not.
Harcourt thought it would be fun to engage the community with a drive-by Halloween House Tour, featuring a map of homes in the area with spooky, elaborate Halloween, decor.
Early last week, she shared her idea on local Facebook groups and gathered a list of addresses of people who were interesteed in participating.
The homes will be set up and ready to go on both Friday and Saturday night for all families to enjoy.
Harcourt designed a PDF list of all the addresses, and a map for printing to make the tour easy to follow.
"I put it together as a fun, free way for people to enjoy the community," she said, "there's so much concern about COVID that maybe this is a way people can still enjoy Halloween in a way that they feel more comfortable."
The following addresses are included in the tour:
- 53 Turner Court
- Brittania and Jay Street
- 23 Matthewson
- 108 Summerlyn Avenue
- 136 Summerlyn Avenue
- 35 Stewart Crescent
- 78 Mooney Street
