Local businesses tee off in Bradford Board of Trade golf tournament (30 photos)

The annual tournament brought out 13 teams of golfers

It was a sunny, hot day for the annual Bradford Board of Trade golf tournament on Friday at Bradford Highlands Golf Course.

Organizations and community members came out for a day of networking, socializing, and fun in support of local business.

Golfers had the opportunity to take part in draw with prizes donated by area businesses including:

  • A foursome to Glen Eagle Golf Club, compliments of Bradford Highlands Golf Club
  • A Karaoke Machine from Scaraoke Entertainment
  • A Spa Basket from Creations - Handcrafted Soaps by Sue
  • A 50/50 draw benefiting the Bradford Helping Hand Food Bank

Throughout the course were games and booths filled with swag and snacks.

On the course there was The Pink Ball Challenge for a chance to win a $100 GC to The Beer Store, Sponsored by Ryan's Landscaping.

There was also a Closest To The Pin contest with the winner taking home a Ukulele from BradfordAcademy Of Music.

Before the game, golfers had a chance to warm up at the putting green contest for a chance to win a Date Night with Dreamwinds Equine Assisted Learning Centre.

After the 18th hole,  golfers were able to stop and chat with BBT president Tina Morrisson and take a shot at the Driving Range Contest for a chance to win a Range Finder, donated from By The Byte IT Solutions.

Gold Sponsors for the event included:

Crozier Consulting Engineers, Ryan's Landscaping,
Holland Gardens Retirement Residence, Steve Burton Contracting, BradfordToday, and Town Of Bradford West Gwillimbury.

Cart Sponsor:  Scot Davidson MP and Weather Sponsor: The Elden Of Bradford

The following businesses had sponsored holes on the course:

Freshii Bradford, RPM Reliable Professional Mechanics, Eye Candy Ads, and Scot Davidson MP.

It was a good day, said BBT President Tina Morrison. "But we are sad we are losing this course (next year)," she said.

This was the BBT's second last tournament at Bradford Highlands before their Sept. 24 event. The golf course has been sold to developers and will close at the end of this year.

"It's been a great day with nice summer weather," said Mayor Rob Keffer, "we've enjoyed going around to see all the sponsored holes, it gives you an idea of the businesses in Bradford and how they support the BBT."

Ryan Shapcott of Ryan's Landscaping was a gold sponsor for the event and has been every year.

"Networking is my biggest thing for this," he said. He likes to take the first tee-off time of the day so it gives him more time to socialize with other teams after the game.

"This isn't about golf, it's about networking," he said.

There is still time to register for the September BBT golf tournament on their website here
