In the spring of 2018 our very dear friend Audrey Amberg got the devastating news that she had breast cancer.
Treatment to follow this life changing diagnosis has been a mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiation continuing into until early December.
Due to the frequency and type of treatment, it forced her to close her home daycare business, leaving the household with a great amount of financial stress.
Our group of friends then decided to organize a fundraiser to help decrease some of this financial burden.
The Bowling 4 Audrey fundraiser occurred July 27 at Stellar Lanes in Newmarket. We are happy to report the proceeds exceeded $9,000!!
The evening was an amazing show of love and community support that left us all feeling a great sense of unity, hope and encouragement.
We have so many people to thank without whom the event would not have been the success it was.
1. The many sponsors of the event: Doug Cos and family, Monica O'Connor and family, Clover Cuties, Tammy Hudgin, Hughesdale Farms, ELCO Hospitality, Heels Contracting, Monster Muffin Athletic Apparel, Stress Rx Massage, Bright Choice Window and Eavestrough Cleaning, Dingle Bay Creations, Mr. Dairy, Sumayya & Co., Tony and Son Masonry Inc., Yorkwood Village Dental, Select Barn Lowering, Triple the Love Rustic Creations, Flightdeck Solutions, and Bradford Volunteer Firefighters Association.
These family, community and business sponsors greatly decreased the cost of hosting this amazing event allowing most of the ticket sales and raffle proceeds to go directly to Audrey.
2. The many small businesses that contributed silent auction, raffle and door prizes. From the independent direct sales small business owners, to restaurants and individuals who donated personal items, they were all amazing and the proceeds raised from these items will go a long way!
3. Molisana Bakery, which catered the event at a special price. The food was delicious, abundant and your service made the event stress free and kept us well fed!
4. Stellar Lanes, which hosted the event and provided the MC. The bowling was fun, entertaining, and the facilities were clean and spacious for our group.
5. All those who attended the event to show their support. There was such a strong feeling of love and support by those who filled the bowling alley.
There were friends, family and complete strangers that came to the event to show the army of support our friend has behind her as she continues in her battle with cancer. It was overwhelming and beautiful.
6. To those who contributed by donating funds or buying tickets who couldn't physically be at the event. Your financial support also went a long way to decrease the overall expenses of the evening.
In organizing and hosting the event, we have learned what an amazing community we have and what good can be brought out of a terrible situation. So THANK YOU!!
Sincerely,
The Bowling 4 Audrey organizing committee
