Starting Kindergarten is a big step for every child as they anticipate new friends, new routines and classroom learning and fun. On Feb. 3, hundreds of three and four year olds will begin their journey as the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board (SMCDSB) officially launches its Kindergarten registration campaign.

"I am so pleased to welcome our youngest students to Catholic education at SMCDSB," said Brian Beal, Director of Education. "This is the beginning of a wonderful learning journey and parents can be assured that the Kindergarten teaching team is ready to embrace and foster each student's God-given talents."

Students who turn four in 2020 are eligible to attend Junior Kindergarten beginning in September of 2020. SMCDSB's Kindergarten program, which is led by a Kindergarten teacher and Designated Early Childhood Educator, provides students with a full-day, play-based learning experience that prepares them for their next stage in learning.

The teaching team encourages independence, fosters responsibility, nurtures self-esteem and instills Gospel values in order to develop a solid foundation for learning and growth.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to contact their local Catholic school for more details and to pick up a welcome package. More information about registration is also available on the board website at www.smcdsb.on.ca/register.
