Starting this weekend, until Nov. 14, there will be a new indoor farmers' market held in downtown Bradford.

The Holland Marsh Pop-Up Harvest Market spearheaded by Liz Gorzo of the Holland Marsh Food Market on Canal Road is excited for the new opportunity proposed by Mayor Rob Keffer and Deputy Mayor James Leduc.

The market will be located inside the old F.K. Textiles building near the four corners, featuring a mix of local food and craft vendors.

It will be open five days a week to encouarge local shopping as part of the town's COVID-19 recovery plan.

"It's a pop up farmers' market...and it will be for just two - two and a half months," said Mayor Keffer in last week's meeting of council. "It's something that we were talking about in our economic COVID-19 recovery package for the town and the downtown."

Coun. Mark Contois thanked the mayor and deputy mayor for their efforts in getting the market plan into action.

"It takes a team to make sure your town is healthy...and this is healthy for the community and the downtown and I just want to commend you on the hardwork," he said.

Mayor Keffer also recognized the efforts of town staff to get the market up and running quickly in time for the harvest.

"It's staff that have stepped right up and have been able to pull this together," he said. "They have gone above and beyond and worked very hard to be able to move things forward so we can all be thankful of that, and our town can feel proud of how we have tried to be nimble and show the businesses that we're there for them."

Some of the vendors will include Homestead Farms Eggs, and Mrs. Poppy Seed (a Hungarain sweets speciality baker).

Gorzo is also hoping to include some of the young farmers from the Marsh who will have their own tables with fresh produce for sale.

Hours for the market will be:

Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays 11 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.

Saturdays 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Sundays 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.

The grand opening will take place this Saturday Sept. 26 at 11 a.m. at 7 Holland St. West.
