The Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury is pleased to announce that its Fire and Emergency Services team has been awarded a grant totaling $8,230 from the Province of Ontario’s 2024 Fire Protection Grant. The funding, which was officially allocated on Dec. 19, 2024, will be used to enhance the department’s personal protective clothing and purchase essential equipment aimed at improving fire safety on the fireground.
“This funding is a huge boost for our team,” said BWG Fire Chief Michael Rozario. “We are extremely grateful to the province for this support, which will allow us to upgrade our personal protective clothing and acquire vital new equipment. Ensuring the safety of our firefighters is our top priority, and these improvements, will help us continue providing the best service to our community while prioritizing the health and well-being of our team.”
The Fire Protection Grant, which is part of the government’s commitment to cancer prevention and minor infrastructure modernization for fire services, is administered over three years, with $10 million allocated annually. The grant will specifically support cancer prevention initiatives and the acquisition of personal protective equipment (PPE), both of which are critical in safeguarding the health and safety of firefighters.
