The annual Mammoth Draw, a fundraiser for the Bradford Lions Club, offers a mammoth $119,441.97 in prizes — including cash, a cherry red 2018 Chevrolet Camaro, and the grand prize 2018 Chevrolet Silverado.
This is the 65th year for the draw, which is the club’s biggest fundraiser.
The Lions raise money for causes that include Southlake Regional Health Centre and recreation in Bradford West Gwillimbury.
They have helped pay for the handicap-accessible addition and elevator at the old Bradford & District Memorial Community Centre, ball diamonds at Joe Magani Park, and the Bradford Lions Aquatics Centre at the leisure centre.
Their latest commitment: a donation to help develop Henderson Memorial Community Park.
The Lions also support minor sports, the BWG Santa Claus Parade, Helping Hand Food Bank, local Scouts and Guides, Big Brothers Big Sisters of York, public speaking and school awards, people with special needs, the Canadian National Institute for the Blind’s Lake Joseph Centre, Camp Dorset, and Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides.
Car draw tickets are $100 apiece, and only 1,700 are printed.
Each ticket admits two people to the elimination-style draw on Sept. 8 at the Bradford community centre — a community event that includes a beef buffet, social gaming evening, and live entertainment.
In addition to the cash and cars awarded on Sept. 8, the Mammoth Draw offers three early bird draws for $1,000 each.
The first will be held on Canada Day, with the winning ticket to be drawn on stage during the celebrations at Centennial Park.
Get your tickets from any Bradford Lion member, or at selected local retailers, including Canadian Tire in Bradford, The Car Guy, Bradford Rental Sales & Service, Bradford Print Shoppe, Pet Valu, Mary & Vita’s Hair Design, Leo & John’s Car and Truck Sales, Sobeys, M&M Food Market, and Decorator’s Edge.
Mammoth Draw tickets will also be available at the Canada Day celebration, where the Lions will be barbecuing hotdogs and hamburgers for the crowds.
