Homeowners, pets escape Bradford garage fire

'They made entry into the garage and completed a quick knock down,' deputy fire chief says of firefighters who responded to Wednesday night blaze

Bradford firefighters made short work of a garage fire on Mills Court Wednesday night.

On Nov. 22 at about 7:25 p.m., Bradford Fire and Emergency Services personnel, South Simcoe police and County of Simcoe paramedics responded to the incident. Firefighters had to cut open the garage door to gain access to the blaze.

“Crews arrived on scene and had a working fire in the garage,” deputy fire chief Steve Hall said. “They made entry into the garage and completed a quick knock down.”

The home had working smoke detectors and the owners and their pets were able to exit safely, he said.

“Due to their quick response the fire spread inside the house was kept to a minimum with mostly smoke damage,” Hall said.

The homeowners were displaced by the fire and are currently staying with friends, he said.
